David Blanton

David Arlen Blanton entered heaven on Wednesday, March 21, 2018. He was born November 4, 1934, to J.C. and Nora Blanton in Victoria, Texas. Dave graduated from Patti Welder High School. He went on to complete a bachelor's degree in music from the University of Texas. During his college years, he met and married Juanita Rayburn in 1956. After a few years in the oil field, Dave felt called to ministry and the family moved to Fort Worth, Texas to attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where he could complete his Master's Degree in Church Music. Dave and Juanita had three children during these years, Kent, Kay, and Rhonda. Upon graduation from the seminary, the family moved to Beeville, Texas where Dave would serve as Minister of Music for the next 33 years.
Dave loved hunting, fishing, working on cars, golfing, and telling stories. He tuned pianos, enjoyed close friends, ministered to people, influenced a generation of musicians, shared in mission work around the world, loved his family, and served his Savior, Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his caring wife of 60 years, Juanita Blanton; by son Kent and his wife Elaine and their sons, Michael, Caleb, and Andrew; by son-in-law Tim Law and wife Bitsy and his daughters Kristy and Kacey; by daughter Rhonda Selph and her husband Chad and their children Austin and Lauren; as well as four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Nora Blanton, his brother, James Blanton, and his daughter, Kay Law.
A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 pm on Sunday, March 25 at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Monday, March 26 at First Baptist Church, Beeville, Texas. Burial will follow at Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Ben Barris, John Bond, Bill Davis, Jr., Ellis (Nubbin) Ginn, Jr., Bill Stockton, Mark Sugarek, Richard Zander, Sr., and Richard Zander, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Bond, Chuck Knowlton, Dudley Thoms, and Tim Law.
