Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and loving remembrance that the family of Danny Lee Hemphill, Sr. announces his passing on August 9, 2026.

Born in Beeville, Texas, on December 16, 1946, to Charles and Louise Hemphill, Danny will be remembered for the love he shared with his family, the friendships he built throughout his life, and the lasting impression he made on those who knew him.

Danny graduated from Kenedy High School in 1967, and shortly after, enlisted in the Navy. He proudly served his country, earning a Bronze Star during his time in Vietnam.

He was also a gifted brick mason, and his work was more than a trade — it was art. Through his hands, brick and mortar became something lasting, strong, and beautiful, a reflection of the care, patience, and pride he brought to everything he did.

Danny is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Brenda; his children, Michele and Stephen Povelko, Danny Lee Hemphill, Jr., Anita and Felipe Leal, Charlie and Barbara Hemphill, Andy and Nicole Villa, and Sharon Villa; his cherished siblings, Charles Hemphill and Virginia (Ginny) Lamb, and their spouses Betsy and Buster; his multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Louise Hemphill, and his son, Grant.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Three Rivers, Texas.

A service to honor Danny’s life will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at Simmons Cemetery, in Three Rivers, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the life of a man who meant so much to so many.

Danny’s memory will live in the hearts of those who loved him, and his legacy will remain a source of comfort and strength for years to come.
