Obituary

Cynthia Gail (Smith) Massey, 74, of Beeville, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, surrounded by loving family. Born on March 3, 1951, in Shamrock, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Bill Roy Smith and Freda Lorece (Eubank) Smith.

Known to those close to her as “Cindy,” she was a 1969 graduate of Shamrock High School, and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Cindy married Gary Lee Massey on October 17, 1973. She was a devoted homemaker and was exceptionally talented at crochet. As a woman of faith, Cindy found her greatest peace in God’s creation and especially cherished the time she spent visiting the beach with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Gary Massey; her son, James Michael Massey and his wife Cheri Massey; her daughter, Kimberly Ann Massey and her partner Ryan Rogers. Cindy is also survived by her sister, Billie Ruth (Smith) Kirby. Her legacy also lives on through her four grandchildren, Heather Cooper, Kayla Martin, John Massey and Brayden Jake, five great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Gabriella, Lukas, Jackson and Julia; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of loving friends and neighbors.

She joins her parents and her brother, Roland Robert “Bob” Smith and his wife Penny Fetter Bybee, in eternal peace.

Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Beeville with the funeral service at 2 o’clock. Chaplain Roger Rosenbaum will officiate.

Burial will follow at Beeville Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Corey Dennis, Nicholas Cooper, Justin Martin and Ryan Rogers.
