Charles Bradfield

Charles Magil Bradfield, 88, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas.

He was born September 20, 1931 in Waelder, Texas, to Robert E. Bradfield and Arldia (Westbrook) Bradfield. He was a graduate of Sealy High School and Sul Ross University. He was a Geophysicist who spent many years working in Africa and Southeast Asia but remained a Texan at heart.

Charles was preceded in death by his first wife, Mimi Bradfield; his second wife, Lavonne Kennedy Bradfield; high elder brother, Ganey Westbrook Bradfield; daughter-in-law, Jenni Arburn; grandson, Nicolas Arburn; and his parents, Robert E. and Arldia Bradfield.

He is survived by his children, Anthony C. Bradfield and Dr. Kevin Black, Monica L. Lacombe and Dr. Donald Lacombe; his sister, Anna Lucy Brown; his brother, Robert Elliot Bradfield; his sister-in-law, Virginia Bradfield; and his stepchildren, Ginger Rogers, Bill Rogers and Don Arburn; grandchildren Rhiannon and Abel Rogers; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

Charles lived quite an adventurous life, was extremely proud of his family, and would give you the shirt off his back. In this time of strife, we know that were he able, he would be doing his best to aid his neighbor. It is in that spirit and with that spirit of service that we ask you to remember him and honor his memory by extending a helping hand when needed.

The family would like to thank Brookdale Oakwell Facility and Brookdale Hospice, and all of the various staff members for their exceptional care. We would like to thank his private caregiver and family friend Renee Inez Garcia for her constant care of our loved family member.

Due to the timing of his passing, a private family graveside service will he held.

In lieu of flowers, it was his wish that donations be made in his name to the Texas Parks and Wildlife or the Houston Stock Show and Rodeo.
