Charles Bailey

Charles Leonard Bailey, 89, of George West, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019.
Mr. Bailey was born Dec. 31, 1929, in Oceana, West Virginia, to Roscoe Maynor and Hattie Mae Cook. He married Joyce Marie Ferrell in Oceana, West Virginia, on Dec. 23, 1953. He served in the U.S. Army, and was a gauger in the oil and gas industry, a Christian, member of the Coal Miner Association and a former baseball coach. He loved hunting squirrels and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe Maynor and Hattie Mae Cook.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Joyce Marie Bailey of George West; son, Randall Slaughter of Bracketville; four grandchildren, Charles (Lynn) Ferrell of Three Rivers, Rex Allen (Princess) Ferrell Jr. of Kingsbury and Hank Randall (Cecilia) Ferrell and Crystal (William) Hill, both of George West; numerous great-grandchildren; and one sister, Carrol Sue Brinkley of Virginia.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at Galloway & Sons George West chapel.
The funeral service will be conducted there at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, with Rev. John Ferrell officiating. Special songs will include "Peace in the Valley" and "Go Rest High on the Mountain."
Burial will follow at the George West Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rex Ferrell Sr., Charles Ferrell, Rex Ferrell Jr., Hank Ferrell, William Hill, Jr. Ferrell and Mike Ferrell
