Cecelia “Cece” Anne Hollingsworth, 95, of Beeville, Texas, died Wednesday, April 24, 2024.

Cece Hollingsworth was born to E.R. Boyd and Marie Armstrong Boyd of Dallas, Texas, on September 10, 1928. She attended high school and college in Dallas and graduated from SMU with a major in Home Economics in 1949. While at SMU, she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. Following graduation, she worked for Dallas Power and Light Company. She married L.R. Hollingsworth Jr. in Dallas in 1956. The couple moved to Beeville that year where they raised three children: Anne Hollingsworth Groda of Beeville, Beth Hollingsworth Bourne and (David Bourne) of Lakeway, and Rob Hollingsworth and (Kim Fairchild) of Carlisle, PA. She also has three grandchildren: Kris Groda and (Lena Patterson) of Mount Pleasant, TX, Bobby Hollingsworth of Cambridge, MA, and David Hollingsworth of Arlington, VA. In addition, she has three great-grandchildren.

Cece was a member of the Pan American Round Table, Beta and multiple bridge clubs. In addition, she was active in the Republican Women of Beeville, St. Philip’s Episcopal Church - Daughters of the King. She also remained active with her sorority as a Recruitment Chair and referred hundreds of young women from the area over the last 40 years. She contributed much of her time to her special causes: American Cancer Society, March of Dimes, as well as local fund-raising events. 

To the best mother, chef, homework helper, driver, laundry boss, fierce competitor of the cards and best friend - the world was blessed to have you in it....love, your family.

Cece’s family wishes to express their sincerest thanks to Exclusive Home Health & Hospice, Birchwood of Beeville, Dr. Larakers and all the nurses, aides and assistants who have helped with her care these past few months. 

In lieu of flowers, you may wish to donate to the North Jefferson Church of Christ in Mount Pleasant, St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Beeville or the South Texas Children's Home.
