Catherine Ann Wyble, 85, of Mathis, Texas, peacefully passed away on January 12, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Catherine was born in Corpus Christi on December 18, 1940. She dedicated her life to service, family and faith and was a proud graduate of Roy Miller High School. After high school graduation, she went on to The University of Texas to pursue a career in nursing. During that time, she met the love of her life, David Wyble Sr. They were united in marriage on July 28, 1961.
Catherine devoted 38 years to the Nueces County Tax Office, where her commitment was so valued that she continued working part-time during tax seasons well into retirement. Her work ethic and dedication earned the respect of colleagues and community members alike.
Her hands were never idle; she lovingly crocheted countless blankets for her cherished grandchildren and found joy in family game nights and computer games. Her kitchen table became a gathering place for Monday night dinners with church members and missionaries, which ended with full bellies and laughter. She spent her Wednesday and Saturday mornings at Heart-to-Heart and Relief Society gatherings surrounded by friends, where her warm hospitality created lasting memories.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Catherine served in various callings with enthusiasm, such as relief society president, young women’s president and even the young women’s camp cook, approaching every responsibility with love and devotion.
Catherine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Wyble Sr.; parents, Joseph and Margaret Pressley; and her siblings, Barbara Noblett and Johnny Pressley.
Survivors include her children, David (Juanita) Wyble, Jamey (Tammie) Wyble, Tricia (Clint) Brown and Spring (Rito) Zertuche; nine grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren who were the light of her life.
The family would like to thank the staff at Corpus Christi Hospice for the love and devotion in the care they showed their mother.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Beeville with the funeral service at 11 o’clock. President David Jones will officiate.
Burial will follow in the George West Cemetery in George West.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Velasquez, Cody Bartos, David Morales, Matt Steele, Rito Zertuche, Thomas Gentry, Justin Wyble and David Wyble.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Carson Steele, Jadon Ocanas, Alex Ocanas, Robert Wasicek, Caleb Brown and Cameron Brown.
