Surrounded by his beloved wife and family, Carlos Vera passed from this world into the loving arms of God on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at the age of 72.
Carlos was born November 4, 1950, in Yoakum, Texas to Willie and Patsy Vera. He was a 1970 graduate of Yoakum High School where he played football (Go Bulldogs) and ran track. He furthered his education by earning an associate degree from Bee County College. Carlos served our country in the U.S. Army and was a successful general store manager before moving to Budweiser as a regional manager and salesman. He married his sweetheart, Angela Lazarine, in Beeville on October 12, 2010. He was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and rarely missed watching them play. Above all, he loved spending time with his family. Carlos was the 5th of 8 children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Patsy Vera; siblings, Hector Vera, Delia Villa, Rudy Vera and Sally Hustead.
He is survived by his loving wife, Angela (Lazarine) Vera of Beeville; his three remaining siblings, Mary Helen Lowry, Ralph (Angela) Vera and Willie (Norma Vera; his children, Nathan (Sarah) Vera, Carliss (Greg) Ramos, Amanda (Charles) Avila, Skye (Sarah) Vera, as well as stepchildren, Timothy (Heather) Alaniz and April (Robert) Cantu; his grandchildren, Johnathan, Audrey and Joshua Vera, Avynn and Gregory Ramos, Skylar, Lakynn, Mateo and Cecilia Vera, Alivia Urton, Chandler and Finley Alaniz, RJ Cantu and Mia Loren Cantu; and two great-grandchildren, Gracie Jo and Emmett Urton. Carlos is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
Carlos had a great sense of humor that will be sorely missed. We welcome you to visit with us at the following times and locations. To those willing, please come prepared to share a story from your time with Carlos.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday, October 29, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home followed by a prayer service at 4 o’clock with Rev. Salvador P. Rincon Jr. officiating.
Carlos will be laid to rest in a graveside memorial service at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 3, at Beeville Memorial Park.
