Carl White

Carl White went to sleep on July 23, 2018 and woke up in the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ free from pain and suffering.

Carl was born in Clareville, Texas the seventh child of Edgar Monroe and Lurena Ashcraft White.

As a young boy, his family moved to a farm in Tynan, Texas, where they raised cotton. He attended and graduated from Mathis High School where he played football and baseball for Coach Rich. He joined the Air Force in 1950 and was stationed in Germany. Upon coming home, he went to work for a short time for the Pacific Railroad. He spent the remainder of his life working in the oilfields of South Texas as a truck driver for Viking Drilling, mud engineer for Mil-Chem and then in his own business, White Mangum Specialties, from which he retired.

Carl married Dorothy Mae Braune on February 14, 1958, and they were married for 60 years. They settled in Beeville, Texas in 1960 where they lived and raised their family for the remainder of his life.

Carl was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge #261 in Beeville, Texas, Kenedy Lodge #771 and Alamita Lodge #200.

Carl had two heroes in life - John Wayne and his high school coach.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Lurena White; brothers, Monroe White, Billy White, Claude White and wife Louise, and Don Jackson; sisters, Faye and husband Charlie Tiemann, Theresa and husband Virgil Gay, Mary Helen and husband Virgil Marler and Edith and husband Roy Whitney; and a brother-in-law, Jimmy Ray White.

Carl is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mae White of George West, Texas; daughters, Debra (Bryan) White of Cleburne, Texas and Darlene (Danny) Campbell of San Antonio, Texas; sons, Hoss (Robyn) White of Skidmore, Texas and Bo (Cathy) White of George West, Texas; one sister, Sarah White of Odessa; a sister-in-law, Peggy White of Belen, New Mexico; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2018 at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Beeville, Texas.

The funeral service will be conducted there at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 28 followed by a Masonic burial at the Ray Point Cemetery in Ray Point, Texas.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Christopher White, Nicholas Campbell, Dustin White, Dylan White, Ty White and J D White.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Wednesday-Romeo Club.

In lieu of flowers, a charitable donation may be made in his name to the American Alzheimer's Association or the George West Athletic Booster Club.
