Carl R. Mayberry Jr., 78, of Beeville, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2026.
Mr. Mayberry was born February 03, 1948, in Beeville, Texas, to Carl Sr. and Allen “Miss Chocolate” (Rupe) Mayberry. He was a graduate of A C Jones High School. Carl married Louise Ingraham on March 4, 1973 at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Beeville. He retired from Tx Dot after 35 years of service. After his retirement, Carl worked for the Beeville Livestock Commission “Auction Barn” and the Daugherty Ranch. Carl was a faithful member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church; he served as head of the Altar Guild and usher each Sunday. He was an active member in the Kairos Prison Ministry and served as Chaplain. He also served many years on the Bee County Western Week parade committee, was on the Beeville Little League Board for many years and was an umpire for district 29.
He was preceded in death by his, parents; wife, Louise E. Mayberry; and one brother, Jackie Mayberry.
Survivors include his brother, Rhea “Reabo” Mayberry of Beeville, Texas; two sisters, Dolores Embry of Springfield, Ohio, and Tanue White of Katy, Texas; his five stepchildren, Nadine (Leon) Guidry of Oak Harbor, Washington, Marsha (Henry) Taylor of Manchester, Maine, Lynne (Dallas) Van Horn of Yakima, Washington, Kay Davis of Ellensburg, Washington, and John (Penny) Davis of Southbridge, Massachusetts. He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 15 great–grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 10, at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home in Beeville.
The funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, with Rev. Andrew Green officiating.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Berry, Jacob Berry, Lanny Holland, Jim Anderson, Mark Bledsoe, and Cory Hensch.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Reabo Mayberry, Richard Young, David Henley, John Davis, Lauro Garcia, Russell Langbein, Dallas Van Horn, Henry Taylor III, and George Ingraham.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carl’s name at St. Philips Episcopal Church.
