Bruce Lynn King, 78, passed away on October 6, 2026.
Bruce was born on July 25, 1948 in Logan, UT, to Owen Leslie King and Jean Lois Humphreys. Bruce attended Utah State University and later Brigham Young University, where he graduated with a BS in Electrical Engineering in 1974. During his college years, he served a 2 year mission in Germany for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he became fluent in German; he joined the Army ROTC; and he married Charlotte Anne King on September 2, 1971 in the Salt Lake, Utah temple. They started their family while they were both still in college and then upon graduation he fulfilled his Army obligations in Georgia and started his first career job in Washington DC. The couple settled in Pocatello, ID in 1977 and remained there for almost 20 years while he worked at FMC Corporation and continued to serve in the Army Reserve. In 1996 the family moved to Corpus Christi, TX where his wife Charlotte Anne was from. He worked in the oil and gas industry in the Corpus Christi, TX and Beeville, TX areas. Following the death of Charlotte Anne in 2013, Bruce married Elaine King on September 29, 2013, in Beeville, Texas. Following their marriage, he continued to work as an electrical engineer in the oil and gas industry. He had a deeply spiritual side that anchored his family and he served willingly in many church callings, including serving as the 1st bishop of the Beeville, TX Ward. For those that knew Bruce well, he had a silly sense of humor, making cheesy jokes and singing commercial jingles from his youth. He loved to sing, and participated in community choirs and the occasional musical. His 6’5” height made him a standout in basketball, and in his younger days he found lots of enjoyment on the basketball court. He loved his children and grandchildren and worked to have a relationship with each one.
He was preceded in death by his spouse, Charlotte Anne King. his father Owen Leslie King and his mother, Jean Lois Humphreys.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine King; sons, Carl (Liz) King of Corpus Christi, Texas and Andrew (Katie) King of Rosenberg, Texas; daughters, Jennifer (Jim) Harris of Orem, Utah, Sherry (Chad) Iverson of Draper, Utah, and Julie (Joshua) Black of Cedar Hills, Utah; sisters, Chris (James) Auger, and Linda Jean King; brothers, MIchael Owen (Jody) King, and Jerry William King; 18 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the same location.
Following the service, the burial will take place at George West Cemetery.
