Barry Chappelle Peterson

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Barry Chappelle Peterson on Saturday, October 21, 2023.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart, Ronda (Poole); his proud son, Tyler, and his daughter, Paige; and his wonderful daughter, Aleah Brittney (Alan Van Idour). His youngest son, Scott Nicholas, passed away last year at the age of 35. Other family members include Tom Poole (Joy) and Jan Doniero (Joey), Chase (Sabrina) and Erica (Gary).

Barry was born November 22, 1957, in the Houston area and grew up in Conroe before moving to Houston during his high school years. He excelled at football and track which he then played for SHSU as a Free Safety, anchor leg of a 4 x 100 team and ran the 110-meter high hurdles. He had a love for Chemistry for which he graduated with a BS at SHSU, minoring in Mathematics. Soon after graduating college, he had a few small jobs before landing at Hewlett Packard (Agilent Technologies) where he worked for over 35 years in the field as an Analytical Chemist and Team leader, mentored 15 Field Service Engineers and won the 2022 High Achievers Club.

It's hard to describe Barry in words, but we can all agree he made us all feel better about ourselves and our lives. He was a man who put his wife and kids first, no matter what the situation. He taught us to treat others as you would like to be treated and we were all fortunate that he was able to share all his wisdom and thoughts with us, especially his favorite granddaughter Paige.

Barry had an amazing zest for life when it came to the outdoors. Hunting and fishing were always something he had time for no matter what he had going on. Golf was his second love while his wife Ronda was his first…..and sometimes it was the other way around!

Our closing thoughts on Dad who had such an impact on everyone he came in contact with is this: life is short, don’t take it too seriously, have fun along the way, and enjoy every moment you have with your loved ones.
