Barbara Joyce (Swinney) Davis, 69, of George West, Texas, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026, in San Antonio.

Born on November 13, 1956, in Freer, Texas, to Floyd Richard Swinney and Mary Kidd Gomillion. She was married to the love of her life, James Andrew Davis, for 52 years, filled with happiness. Barbara enjoyed working in education at George West ISD for nearly 30 years.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Gomillion, and stepfather, Dock Gomillion; her father, Floyd Richard Swinney; and a baby brother, Floyd Richard Swinney Jr.

Left behind to cherish Barbara’s memory her beloved husband, James Andrew Davis; two sons, James Lee Davis and Robert (Helen) Davis; a daughter, Kitty (Raymond) Ruiz; eight grandchildren, Colleen Davis, Andrew Ruiz, Bradley Davis, Arabella Ruiz, Aiden Ruiz, Justin Davis, Abigail Davis, and Gabriella Davis; her stepmother, Carolyn Swinney; two sisters, Patricia (Randy) Custer and Ramona (Jeff) Greene; two brothers, Frank (Georgie) Gomillion and Scott Swinney; and shared a meaningful friendship with, Jeannie and Cleve Granberry.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2026, at the Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West with a Rosary recited at 6 o’clock by Father Romeo Salinas.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at St. George Catholic Church in George West with Father Romeo Salinas officiating. Burial will follow at Gussettville Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dennis Gallagher, Keith Gallagher, Mitchell Williams, Robert McCumber, Randy Custer, and Matt Elkins.

Honorary pallbearers will be Floyd Clifton, Charles Snider, and Cleve Granberry.
