Anita (Arredondo) Briseno

Anita (Arredondo) Briseno, 89, of George West, Texas, passed away Friday, September 5, 2025, at Twin Pines North Nursing Home, Victoria.

Anita was born November 17, 1935, in Tilden to Andres Arredondo and Maria Jesusa (Pena) Arredondo. She married the love of her life, Angel Amaya Briseno, on a farm in Live Oak County on February 12, 1955. She was an active parishioner of St. George Catholic Church and a stay-at-home mother. She was a simple woman who raised her kids in a loving house and enjoyed gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andres and Maria Jesusa (Pena) Arredondo; her husband of 70 years, Angel Amaya Briseno; her only brother, Andres Arredondo Jr.; her sister and brother-in-law, Maria A. (Jose) Porres; one grandson, Andres Jose Briseno; and one great-grandchild, Coralyyn Kai Clifford.

Survivors include two daughters, Alice (Reynaldo) Gonzales and Linda Briseno; two sons, Louis (Irene) Briseno and Albert Briseno; two sisters, Angelita “Lala” Arredondo and Feliciana “Chana” Arredondo; one niece, Estefana “Fannie” Porres Llamas; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West with a Rosary to be recited at 6 o’clock that evening.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 11, at St. George Catholic Church with Father Romeo Salinas officiating. Burial will follow in the George West Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Lario S. Briseno, Ruben A. DeLeon, George Lopez, Manuel Briseno, Louis Briseno and Reynaldo Gonzales Jr.

Honorary pallbearer will be Albert Briseno.
