Amelia (Moreno) Padilla

Amelia (Moreno) Padilla, 89, of Beeville, Texas, took the hands of her Lord and Savior January 31, 2026. She was living at Gramman House in Beeville at the time of her passing.

Amelia was born June 18, 1936, in Beeville to Francisco and Christina (Barrientes) Moreno. She was a graduate of A.C. Jones High School and attended college where she obtained a business degree and became a dedicated personnel manager at K-Mart. After serving for numerous years, she retired from K-Mart as well as from the Texas Department of MHMR.

Amelia was a Christian woman of faith. Her love of God was of utmost importance to her as was her love of praising Him in song and prayer. She enjoyed playing the piano. As a devoted member of Monte de Olivar Christian Church, she was a beloved Sunday school teacher and served as praise team singer and church secretary.

She was also proud of her role as exhorter minister at New Hope Christian Church and faithfully served there as a Sunday school teacher, Pioneer secretary, Missionette for Christ girl’s ministry and director of the girls’ tambourine group.

In addition to her parents, Amelia was preceded in death by a son, Leonard Padilla, Jr.; a daughter, Thelma Sheffield; and three grandchildren, Jeanice Newton, Leiana Padilla and Santino Padilla Ledesma.

Left behind to cherish fond memories include her son, Marvin Padilla; daughter, Jeanette (Jeffery) Southerland; daughter-in-law, Dianna Trevino Padilla; granddaughter, Selena (John) Ruiz; and a friend who helped care for her and considered him a grandson, Joshua Gonzales. She also leaves four precious grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild who were her pride and joy; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Amelia’s family would like to thank the staff at the Gramman House of Beeville and New Century Hospice for their special care and love they provided.

As per Amelia’s wishes, a private funeral and burial at Assumption Cemetery in Austin will take place at a later date.
