Amada Tobias

Amada Tobias, 72, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on May 30, 2025, at her home in Beeville, Texas.

Amada was born February 6, 1953, in Gregory, Texas, to Alfonso B. Tobias and Candelaria (Saldivar) Tobias. She was a dedicated employee of the Beeville Independent School District where she served in the Food Service Department for 28 years. Her commitment to nurturing the minds and bodies of young students was evident in her daily work. Following her retirement from BISD, she continued to share her warmth and hospitality while working at the Hampton Inn in Beeville for 12 years where she was one of the originals since Day 1.

Amada had a big hand in all the accolades the hotel earned, most notably the back-to-back Connies. Even during the end of her tenure when in hindsight she was not feeling 100 percent, her approach and attitude never wavered. She was admired for her courage and strength during those moments.

Known for her compassionate nature, Amada cherished the moments she spent cooking for her family and creating lasting memories, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. Her ability to bring people together through food and love left a treasured mark on every life she touched. She also enjoyed listening to oldies, scripture reading and movie nights with her family.

Amada was preceded in death by her parents, Alfonso and Candelaria Tobias, along with her granddaughter, Emilee Ynez Barrera.

Survivors include her daughters, Corrie Tobias and Cindy (Danny) Trevino; her sisters, Petra T. Salazar, Teresa Tobias and Josie Cortez; her brothers, Felix Tobias and Alfonso Tobias; as well as eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 5, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Beeville.

The funeral service will be conducted there at 10 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2025, with Pastor Joe Fuentes officiating. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Derrick Trevino, Diego Trevino, Manuel Perez, Manuel Perez Jr., Leo Perez and Benito Ramos Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Eloy B. Martinez III, Eloy B. Martinez Jr., Noah Meza, Danny Trevino, Dominic Trevino and Mason Calliham.
