Abelino Gonzales

Abelino T. "Shorty" Gonzales Sr., 83, of George West passed away Friday, July 27, 2018.
Mr. Abelino was born on October 11, 1934 in La Parita Ranch to Jose B. and Carolina (Torres) Gonzales. He married Graciela Garcia on February 10, 1954 in George West. He was a self-employed carpenter for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Graciela Garcia; his parents; two sisters; two brothers; and a daughter.
He is survived by three sons, Ray (Alice) Gonzales of Floresville, Abelino (Francis) Gonzales Jr. of George West and Mario (Chris) Gonzales of Dallas; two daughters, Roxann Sotelo of George West and Rhonda (Gerry) Ortiz of San Antonio; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2018 from 3 to 6 p.m. followed by a rosary recited at 7 o'clock at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at St. George Catholic Church with Father George Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the St. George Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ruben Pena, Oscar Pena, Rey Ramirez III, Christopher Alaniz, Esteban Lucas and Randy Garcia.
