Teresita Soveida “Sofie” (DeLeon) Guerrero, 74, of George West, died Tuesday, May 7, 2019.

Ms. Guerrero was born Dec. 9, 1944, to Ignacio and Hova (Hernandez) DeLeon in Tilden. She retired as housekeeper from Best Western in George West and was a member of the Catholic faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Abel Rios; and a granddaughter, Margaret Ann Guerrero.

Survivors include three daughters, Elsa Guerrero and Emma (Rick) Perez, both of George West and Elda Guerrero of Corpus Christi; a son, Fidencio “Fidi” Guerrero of George West; four sisters, Margarita (Florentino) Guerrero of Hallettsville, Dora (Anselmo) Guerrero of George West, Elena Pena of San Antonio and Anita Rios of Palestine; three brothers, Olivado “Mickey” (Elisa) Hassette and Ramon (Dora) Rios, both of Tilden, and Reynaldo Rios of San Antonio; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West. A rosary will be recited there that evening at 7 o’clock.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tilden. Burial will follow at Hilltop Cemetery in Tilden.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Justin Guerrero, Joseph Guerrero, Glen Guerrero, Gregory Guerrero, Jeremiah Guerrero and Jonah Guerrero.

Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Camille Cortinas and Sarah Beth Guerrero.
